Newmarket is the historic home of horseracing, offering a treasure trove of sights and sounds for the racing enthusiast. Crowds flock to the racecourses on race days as well as to the concerts and festivals held in the grounds, putting considerable wear and tear on paving around the courses.
EcoBound Resin Bound Surfacing was successfully applied to a concourse and roads at Newmarket’s July Course. More than 800m2 of EcoBound Resin Bound Surfacing was laid.
The porous paving system was chosen for both appearance and safety, with care being taken to ensure that the surfaces did not create any additional risk of slip in the wet or dry. Slip testing shows that all aggregate blends used with EcoBound Resin Bound Surfacing to have low risk of slip in wet and dry condition and stopping distances for vehicles are reduced.
EcoBound Resin Bound Surfacing resin is a clear, flexible polyurethane which is UV stable, preventing discolouration of the surfacing after prolonged exposure to sunlight. It is mixed with blended kiln-dried aggregates and laid at a thickness of 15mm or more to produce a porous SuDS compliant surfacing that is ready for foot traffic 4 hours after completion of the works.
